Since 2005, METAL ELVIS has criss-crossed the nation taking America by storm. Las Vegas, Nashville, Boston, San Francisco, Phoenix, Atlantic City, just to name a few.
METAL ELVIS, is a "mash-up band" that combines the lyrics of classic Elvis Presley tunes "over top" the music of great Metal bands such as; Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Poison, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and others. METAL ELVIS is fronted by Elvis Tribute Artist Chance Tinder of Las Vegas' "Legends In Concert", "American Superstars" and "Showstoppers Live" as "Metal Elvis" on vocals; Lou Beadle, guitarist from "The Eleventh Hour" as "Slush", (as in Slash from Guns N' Roses) on lead guitar. Also, on drums, Pete Kelly from "Kaiser" as "Pussy Galore", (as in Peter Criss, "The Catman" from KISS), and finally Gordy Deems from "Rage N' Rox" as "Stikki Lixx", (as in Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue) on bass. Collectively they've combined their passions for "The King" and "1980's Metal" into a novelty act that rests in the same neighborhood of as Steel Panther, Dread Zeppelin and Super Diamond.
The following is from The Las Vegas Sun - The Kats Report:
Metal Elvis — the name says it all. It's a four-man band with Tinder as The King! The band's musicianship and stage manner brings to mind the comic metal act Steel Panther, actually.
The set list is a conveyor belt of Elvis classics mashed with familiar metal anthems played at level 11: "Blue Suede Shoes" with Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher," "Burning Love" with Black Sabbath's "Paranoid," "Hound Dog" with the Poison cover of "Your Mama Don't Dance," and "Don't Be Cruel" with Guns N' Roses "Sweet Child O' Mine".
Through this onslaught, Tinder never drops character, swiveling his hips and wrapping silk scarves around the necks of women at the front of the stage as Beadle soars through guitar licks. The performance, equal parts rocking and hilarious, is just crazy enough to work, and indeed it does. No question! So the idea is this: Elvis covered everything from Gospel, Rhythm & Blues, Country & Western, Classic Rock and of course Rockabilly. In the 1970s he even covered classics by Three Dog Night, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and The Beatles. So the question is this: What would it have been like, to have witnessed? Well come find out and experience the magic of METAL ELVIS and the Monsters of Rock. "The King, Slash, Nikki Sixx & Peter Criss", all at one time, all on the same stage! Long Live The King, and Long Live Rock 'N' Roll... Metal Elvis Style! |
THE STORY BEHIND METAL ELVIS
Metal Elvis is the bastard child of the late "King of Rock & Roll" and "Elvira."
(As claimed by the "Weekly World News" - 1986)
Raised on the streets of both Memphis TN. and Hollywood CA., METAL ELVIS came into his own when his 'fathers' will was read to him in 2001. It stated that 'The King' wanted his only 'biological' son to carry on in his footsteps, and to "pick-up where he left off." Knowing his son loved METAL, 'The King' suggested (in his will), that perhaps, that's where things should 'pick up from' should he "pass away or disappear"... With METAL!"The King" covered everything from ROCKABILLY, CLASSIC ROCK, COUNTRY, GOSPEL & RHYTHM & BLUES... Perhaps, had he lived, he would have joined forces with the "MONSTERS OF 80'S ROCK" and explored the METALMANIA of the 1980's! And so now he 'does' through his "only biological son"... METAL ELVIS.Hence, this is how METAL ELVIS was born! Along with METAL ELVIS on stage are: Slush (as in Slash), Pussy Galore (as in Peter Criss) and Stikki Lixx (as in Nikki Sixx) all as "THE KING'S MEN" or as they're now passionately known as "THE MONSTERS OF ROCK!"
